Re: Oscar Nominations
Really hope Alex Garland and Nick Hornby win the screenplay awards given that a) they're both British b) they're both awesome!

avgcrtckr wrote:Best Picture nominees according to the criticker users:
The Revenant: 7.8
Mad Max: Fury Road: 7.6
Room: 7.5
Spotlight: 7.5
The Big Short: 7.4
Brooklyn: 7.0
The Martian: 6.9
Bridge of Spies: 6.5
Well then, here they are as I rate them (ahem), with my other Tier 10s thrown in:
Room-95
Irrational Man-95
Mr. Holmes-90
Spotlight-90
The Martian-90
Pawn Sacrifice-90
Ex Machina-90
Burnt-90
Bridge of Spies-80
Brooklyn-80
M. Max-70
The Big Short-70
The Revenant-60
BTW, is there some explanation out there for how we give awards for material as subjective as art? Is it supposed to be a consensus of the intelligentsia, or the slobs in flyover country, or a combo of the two....or....what?
