Of the Hitchcock's I've seen (there are still quite a few I haven't), here's my top 8:

1. Vertigo (92)
2. Psycho (91)
3. Strangers on a Train (85)
4. Notorious (85)
5. The 39 Steps (85)
6. The Lady Vanishes (85)
7. Rear Window (80)
8. North By Northwest (75)

According to the way I view these things, this means Hitchcock is the director of two masterpieces (scores between 91 and 100).

I just watched "The Lady Vanishes" and in my opinion it is not only his best film, but the single greatest film I've ever seen, even without its unbelievable historical significance - although not my all-time favourite I will add.

There, finally fixed my spelling errors after three edits!

Just read the above and your mini-review of The Lady Vanishes. What I like about you, HorrorMaster, is that you're always understated. But couldn't you just try to be a little more enthusiastic?

Haha, that's good advice and I will take it on-board. And on another note I just realised that there are heaps of spelling mistakes in my previous post!

40-36 range: (undeniably-classics)
Vertigo
Rear Window
Psycho
Notorious
Dial M for Murder

35-31 range: (greatness)
Strangers on a Train
Rebecca
Rope
Suspicion
Foreign Correspondent
Saboteur
Frenzy

30-26 range: (still good)
The Lady Vanishes
Shadow of a Doubt
Torn Curtain
Spellbound

25-0 range: (meh and worse)
Young and Innocent
Jamaica Inn
Murder!

I've learned to be cautious of any Hitchcock not in his 40/50s work but I've always admired Hitchcock [saw Psycho & a few of his other main ones at a young age, always had an effect on me] - one of the definitive masters.

Rear Window
Vertigo
Shadow of a Doubt
Psycho
North by Northwest
Marnie
Strangers on a Train

Mostly just seen the classics... And I worry I've underestimated Shadow of a Doubt and perhaps Marnie.
