65 V for Vendetta (2006) - Sep 27, 2010
70 Prince of Darkness (1987) - Mar 29, 2010
78 Shutter Island (2010) - Feb 20, 2010
Mini-Review: The film was predictable, but for the most part that didn't detract from the quality. The acting was excellent, the atmosphere was perfect, and the story, though heavily telegraphed, was still gripping. The actual reveal suffers from being overly long and spending too much time establishing facts that the audience has already guessed at, but the resolution feels earned and DiCaprio and Michelle Williams were great in their big scene. Doesn't break any new ground, but still worth a watch.
10 The Reaping (2007) - Feb 05, 2010
80 Boogie Nights (1997) - Feb 05, 2010
74 The Descent (2005) - Feb 05, 2010
78 Zombieland (2009) - Nov 07, 2009
70 The Invention of Lying (2009) - Oct 03, 2009
Mini-Review: Entertaining but jumbled. It started out as a broad comedy about the only man who knows how to lie, only to take a dark turn as a story about mortality and faith, and then wind up as a frustratingly predictable romantic comedy. The cameos were good, Gervais was his typical self, Louis CK stole most of his scenes, and Jennifer Garner was okay but her whole character was wretchedly, unabashedly vain and superficial for the entire film.
