Mini-Review: Waitress is unique in that it is an incredibly sad film, but the viewer is constantly distracted from that fact just as Keri Russel's character distracts herself from her own sadness. Much of the film is frustrating, because the small town problems don't seem like they would be so hard to deal with in reality, but fine acting and a fun recurring pie-inventing gimmick are sweet plot carriers. Above all, it's worth seeing for Andy Griffith's performance. Meh!
Mini-Review: Annoying CGI and some blatant disregard for the seriousness of war make Rambo an inconsiderate bloodbath. The film, which intended to highlight often forgotten, war-stricken hotspot, Burma, which just doesn't get the attention it deserves thanks to the middle east, tends to be very pro-war, even after starting in a we-want-to-help kind of way. It's screwy, and the action, when it actually begins, does not let up, constantly showing poorly animated exploding heads and gut shots. Crap!
Mini-Review: Despite a couple excruciatingly boring and long-lasting sections of the film, the concept is fascinating and generally well presented. Meh!
Mini-Review: Full Metal Jacket is sort of like two very intense war films taped together. The acting is great, especially of course, if it counts as acting for R. Lee Ermey, who was really just doing a job he was already good at. The fury is real. The feel of the film is both scary and awe inspiring. It's brilliant film making by Stanley Kubrick. Awesome!
Mini-Review: Tarantino and Rodriguez had a pet project that turned out to be a very cool, very violent, and very entertaining double feature. It's not for everyone, but for those who can either stomach is or are fans of the director duo, it's... Awesome!
Mini-Review: Child's Play is among the most annoying and stupid of monster/slasher/horror films, but it is hard to forget Chucky, the murderous toy boy who just won't stay dead, or crushed, or melted, or whatever. This film requires pretty extreme suspension of disbelief to say the least. Crap!
Mini-Review: Very little of what makes the first Beverly Hills Cop fun remains. It used to be semi-serious and smart. Beverly Hills Cop III is contrived and silly. Crap!
