Mini-Review: Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon play a very convincing Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Fans of Cash will not be disappointed and those who have never taken interest in Cash's music or life will be captivated by the story and songs, which are completely redone(quite wonderfully actually) by Phoenix and Witherspoon. You will definitely not be sorry to put this one on your library shelf.
Mini-Review: August Rush is the charming story about a young boy who wishes to find his parents through the means of music. Inspirational, wonderful, and musically sensational are a few words to describe this movie. There were a few odd parts thrown in throughout which seemed awkward and out of place, but overall, August Rush is definitely worth your time and money.
Mini-Review: "Yawn!" Sitting through this made me appreciate bathroom breaks and my popcorn, which seemed much more interesting than The Rock or anything else that was on the screen. Dumb jokes, horrible acting, and an annoying young actress made time tick by quite slowly. Kids might find this entertaining, but for your sake, take them to something else.
Mini-Review: Bee Movie is certainly not a Pixar classic, but is probably one of the better animated flicks to come out this year. There were some hilarious lines thrown in and Renee Zellweger was charming as usual. However, kids might grow weary with the plot line, which involves suing, courts, and honey, and might find it difficult to sit through the entire movie. Plan a bathroom and snack break in in the middle, and you might have a great Saturday afternoon with the kids.
Mini-Review: Enchanted brings back to life the magic that adults remember from they're childhood viewings of Disney princess tales and recreates it for the younger generation in a whole new way. Amy Adams was completely believable as a perfectly wonderful damsel and Patrick Dempsey did well as a hardened cynic turned "prince". There were many laugh-out-loud moments and the story was captivating throughout. Excellent movie for a girl's day out; just don't forget to giggle uncontrollably and to wear your tiara
Mini-Review: National Treasure: Book of Secrets didn't fall into the dreaded ill-fated bad sequel category, as many likely suspected, and most will find it fast paced and entertaining. Lines were funny and characters were likable once again. However, there were many times in the movie where the numerous twists and turns of the plot seemed much too jumbled to follow with 100% of your attention. All in all, National Treasure 2 was not a waste of anything under $10.00 and great for the the whole family.
Mini-Review: After all the hype and excitement over this movie, most viewers will likely be disappointed. Plot lines seemed distorted and it was often difficult to understand the terms and words that fans of the book will clearly identify with, but first timers will have problems relating. Otherwise, effects were great and acting was as well.
Mini-Review: Ratatouille is a movie about a rat. And its good. Who knew?
Kids won't like this one as much as the other Pixar greats, but this is still an awesome flick. The animation is, as always, extraordinary.
