49% Iron Man 3 (2013) - Rated 05 May 2013
"An entertaining superhero movie and a return to form for the series after that awful second film and the campy SuperFriends spin off. It's a bit flabby in the middle and the ending is uninspiring, but this film is good fun over all. Highlights include Ben Kingsley playing himself.Don't bother staying for the post credit scene, it's not worth your time. Oh & I'd have liked a better wrap up at then end other than the "everything turned out fine" monologue. It felt a bit lazy. Oh well!"

39% The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) - Rated 09 Feb 2013
"I've not read the book (or the LotR stuff) & I wasn't a huge fan of the previous films, but I wanted to give this a try. This film seems well made, but the trouble is it drags. The story is a simple one, yet the prospect of another two films to conclude it seems mind-numbing! It's also clear that the story is originally aimed at a younger audience than the previous films stories, yet it's shot in the same way, creating a jarring contrast between comedic & violent scenes. One for fans I suspect."
61% Wreck-It Ralph (2012) - Rated 09 Feb 2013
"An entertaining family film. Don't let the videogame character heavy advertising put you off if you're not into gaming. Think of it more as "Toy Story in computers", where the characters on screen have personalities in their own world. Game fans will enjoy references, but the film doesn't alienate it's audience and is quite accessible. I did feel like we spend too much time in the candy land though... I almost forgot it was a film about games and not about sweets!"
49% Brave (2012) - Rated 06 Sep 2012
"It's alright. Unoriginal and uninspiring, but the (very) simple story and characters make this easy to watch and the whole thing is visually beautiful. Wasn't what I was expecting and infinitely more likeable than Pixar's Up."
49% The Thing from Another World (1951) - Rated 04 Sep 2012
"This film stands up great against it's counterparts in the 50's sci-fi era, with a decent story, interesting writing/acting and some good special effects. It's a little hard to watch now though, with it's slow pace, simple fictional science and "kinda goofy" monster. It's still definitely one of the more entertaining films of it's time/genre though."
31% The Possession (2012) - Rated 04 Sep 2012
"About as unoriginal as you can get as far as possession films go. It's all here; rubbish parents, moody teen girls, washed out colour, priests, parent googling demons, token creepy mirror shot, sustained tension hooks, MacGuffin box (that is a ruse), exorcism, shit ending. I could probably list more. Points go to the few creepy scenes that are well executed, but this is nothing you haven't seen a dozen times before. BASED ON A TRUE STORY too... Even the bit where a demon climbs out of his FACE!"
7% The Expendables 2 (2012) - Rated 02 Sep 2012
"I witnessed a true abomination."
22% Total Recall (2012) - Rated 01 Sep 2012
"A bit of credit for effort in trying to be different from the previous version, but that's about it. Weaker story (this one makes NO sense), characters and imagination all make this a dull affair. 100% CGI action scenes don't get the pulse racing and the whole thing INTENTIONALLY looks like Blade Runner crossed with I, Robot. This film should be renamed "Colin Farrell Falls Off Things", seeing as that is actually what 90% of the "action" consists of."
