Mini-Review: Much better then the series. I'm not a fan of Haruhi Suzumiya herself, so it was nice that she wasn't in at least half of it. Yuki became my new favourite character, or at least the "new" Yuki. I really wished Kyon didn't push the button and just stayed in the club with Yuki. Her life was really sad, she was shy but really cute. All she wanted was another member to join the club, and fucking Kyon chose that cunt Haruhi over her. Still, it was a good first half, mediocre second half.
Mini-Review: Better then the first one, and probably on par with the series. At least we get some answers this time. I found myself kind of bored for the first half, but the second half made up for it when they started wrapping of the mystery. The most interesting scenes in my opinion were the ones with Mr. Outside. He's not really what I expected, I thought he was dead to be honest. The ending was satisfying enough, no really big twists or anything. They did leave it open slightly for a possible sequel.
Mini-Review: Not that great compared to the series. That's not to say it was bad either, but it didn't really answer many questions, and it seemed to move really slow compared to the series. Saki was incredibly stupid for most the movie, I don't know what Akira sees in her, aside from the fact that she's cute. At times it feels like it's trying to be Death Note, with the memory erasing, the attempts and interesting twists, even the way Number 1 talks. Of course it's not as good though.
Mini-Review: The first half was pretty good, funny dialogue, interesting characters, fun. The second half turned every character into a cliche which was disappointing. Simon Pegg was pretty good, as was Kirsten Dunst. They were cute together. Megan Fox pretty much plays herself, which is an annoying stuck up attention whore. I think the first half outweighs the second in my opinion, so the movie is still worth a watch, especially if you are a fan of Simon Pegg.
Mini-Review: I heard of Andy Kaufman before I saw this, I had watched some of his more famous TV moments online. In some ways he is a prototype for the internet troll, in others he is the first awkward comedian, of which there are now plenty. This is probably Jim Carrey's best performances (or should I say imitation), he gets the voices just right, maybe a bit over the top with the eyes though, either way it was pretty close. As for the actual movie content, it was entertaining enough.
Mini-Review: It had typical Paul Greengrass shaky cam, but it wasn't as distracting as it was in the Bourne movies, at least not until the ending chase sequence, which went on for too long. Matt Damon's character seemed unrealistically level headed and smart. Most modern soldiers just seem like ignorant tough-guy puppets. The plot wasn't bad, maybe a bit confusing with all the foreign names, but not hard to keep up with if you're paying attention. I didn't have a problem with the politcal message like some.
Mini-Review: The homeless for the most part seemed really nice, kind of stupid, non-violent and cooperative with the director. It's depressing to see the ones that are addicted to crack, the one girl talking about how she'll quit when she's ready, she'll never be ready with that attitude. The director doesn't take a stance or anything, and really humanizes everyone. I'm glad it seemed to somewhat work out in the end, I'd like to see where they all are now, unfortunately possibly back on the streets.
Mini-Review: The action scenes were decent, some cool set pieces, not a bunch of cuts like a Bourne movie, however every other aspect of the movie reminded me of Bourne. The sort of road trip aspect with Scott, a lot of it taking place overseas, the secret agent that the company turns against. As for the plot, it was very uninvolving, forgettable, confusing, and for the most part, boring. The lead actress wasn't that great at acting, but she carried out the fight scenes well enough.
Mini-Review: Pretty fun crime thriller, lots of twists, things keep getting more and more fucked up as the movie goes on. Almost everyone ends up dead by the end of the movie, most of which are in kind of random ways. It's one of those movies that ends with a neat bow tying everything up. The editing was a bit weird, at times it felt like Edgar Wright wannabe. David Schwimmer had no emotion as usual, and Simon Pegg had some weird American accent. Also this has one of the worst posters of all time.
Mini-Review: Very funny and clever black comedy. The dialogue is fast and overlapping, but not hard to keep up. I like how everything is just part of the production, with the mulitple acts, product placements, back-end percentages, actors, computer enhancements, songs, etc. But I guess that's all news really is, a production, twisting things to fit the story they're trying to tell. Both Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman are great.
