Mini-Review: Definately visually stunning, but it runs way too long.
Mini-Review: I can sum up this film in one sentance: "Hippies,
Bono, Eddie Izzard, and Hippies-to-be sing Beatles songs for two hours".
The performances were well done, and Taymor's visual direction is superb, but the film's lukewarm script brings the film way down. The lack of a good dialogue or even a coherent plot both makes the film hard to follow along with and ultimately makes it hard to care about the characters. But overall, Across the Universe is visually stunning, but intellectually strained.
Mini-Review: Adventureland is one of those movies in which the trailer doesn't represent this correctly. Instead of getting a Superbad like comedy, we get a drama with a lot of comic relief. Director Greg Mottola does an excellent job making us care about these characters and, most importantly, making it seem realistic. Granted, this movie left me depressed leaving the theater, but in the hours to come after viewing it, I have come to appreiciate the film more. The performances were all excellent as well.
Mini-Review: Definitely an intelligent comedy with great performances, but is sadly a forgettable movie.
Mini-Review: 'SoaP' reels you in with Mr. Samuel L. Jackson and his infamous oneliner, but once you begin to watch this, it becomes a fun, fast, and frenzy thrill ride. It's not going to change the way you look at movies, but its goon enough for a rainy day.
Mini-Review: One of the most entertaining action comedies around. Manages to actually to contain intelligent humor while being suspenseful.
Mini-Review: Definitely entertaining, "Shaun" starts like a spoof, but eventually turns into a zombie flick that they are spoofing. A fresh take on the Zombie genre.
Mini-Review: This is a really great movie, with great performances and a believable script. Only thing is that this movie is LONG and gets boring between parts.
