"Overly long piece on a sport I know nothing about. Not that it would matter - I enjoyed Pacino's restrained performance and I really liked how the film takes the structure of a war film and compares that with sports - Stone's politics are always interesting if not subtle. The film suffers from trying to put too many plots in - after an hour meandering as a quasi-ensemble piece the film starts to focus on comparing Pacino and Foxx's characters - but momentum has been lost and never picks up." - 50
