95 The Silence of the Lambs (1991) - Dec 23, 2010
Mini-Review: I think the series lost a lot when Jodie Foster didn't reprise her role after this, the twisted sort of "chemistry" between Clarice and Lecter goes a long way to make this film into the classic it is today. The film also touches on sexism with the Clarice/Crawford angle and how the guy generally treats her, it isn't immediately obvious but I think it's there. Great movie and definitely a personal favorite of mine. It's still uncomfortably awesome.
94 Schindler's List (1993) - Dec 07, 2010
Mini-Review: If you want to make someone squirm, put them in front of Schindler's List. Not because it's bad, far from it, but because it's subject matter is incredibly tough to watch. However, at the same time, it clears away the misconception that all Germans at the time of WWII were horrible people. One of my favorite scenes is this movies "girl in red scene", great stuff.
95 Barton Fink (1991) - Dec 16, 2010
Mini-Review: Powered by fantastic performances by John Turtorro and John Goodman, as well as many members of the supporting cast, this film sports fantastic writing and dialog as well. Barton is an interesting character, who may or may not be more than he seems and his troubles with writing and his producers are enlightening as far as what the Hollywood thought process may be. They don't want good, well thought out scripts perhaps as much as box office draw. The ending is great, it's a well done movie.
