Mini-Review: It was just a really cool movie. And you feel cool watching it, too, with it's electric highly stylized action scenes, its sultry and commanding dialog, and it's happy hybrid blending of cowboys and samurai. Yellow, clearly, is the new black.
Mini-Review: This ranks easily as my favorite of the beloved movies produced by Pixar. The story is original and interesting, and the characters are unique and fun to watch. While the story is clearly fictional and fantastic, I feel that the creators gave each of the characters very realistic and identifiable personalities, and seem to ask the question, "If there REALLY were super heros in the real world, what would that look like?" I love that aspect of the movie. Mixing contemporary life with fantasy.
Mini-Review: Like almost all of Pixar's movies, this was a really good film. The story is unique and the characters are fun to watch. I did feel like it got to be a bit heavy on preachy side, as though you could almost audibly hear the writers, directors, producers, (etc.) whispering, "Save planet earth! Recycle! Go Green! Get off your fat butt and contribute to LIFE!" over a majority of the film. Recycling is good, but the message was a little over the top for my tastes. Still a very good movie, tho.
Mini-Review: I loved this movie as a kid. I want to re-watch it before posting further comments.
Mini-Review: I LOVE this movie. I used to watch this as a kid, but was never fully aware of the rich thematic complexity that this movie truly had to offer until I was much older. I love the themes of childhood and growing up in a home with parents who are divorced--the subtile and beautifully woven-in references to Peter Pan. And I especially love the similarities between E.T. and Jesus. This was, and will continue to be one of my all-time favorite movies.
Mini-Review: I was more disappointed with the theater audience's reaction to the end of a particular scene involving conflict between (dark)Spidey and his former best-friend than I was with the movie as a whole (which still had its own flaws...). They cheered when I felt the more appropriate emotional response should have been dismay. I suppose the story tellers were not entirely responsible for the audience's reaction, but it played a critical role in effecting my experience of the movie.
Mini-Review: The premise/gimmick was what caught my attention--satire of the traditional disney princess, posed with the question, "Is storybook romance possible in today's world?" But I forgot what the movie's answer to that question was soon after seeing the movie... Sorry. I had fun watching the movie when I was in the theater, but it didn't quite leave me with that, "Wow. I really really liked that movie" feeling like I had hoped.
Mini-Review: I really enjoyed this movie. I was just thinking about it yesterday, actually. It bears to be re-watched before I can make further comments, tho.
Mini-Review: I re-watched this movie many months ago after not having seen it in a good long while, and was surprised and delighted to discover how much I still enjoy this movie, even now that I'm an "adult". I found the character of the Beast to be very entertaining to watch. Story Critique: The story is good. A classic. It's not very complex, though. The characters make the movie fun to watch.
Mini-Review: Bland. I don't really remember too much about the movie--other than that it was boring and had me wishing I was watching the old-school cartoon again.
