80 Bamboozled (2000) - Oct 19, 2008
Mini-Review: One of my favourite Spike Lee films and probably his most underrated. Very risque of him to shoot this movie entirely on video with only the scenes of the TV show shot in film but it's a funny satire of racism portrayed in the media. I enjoyed Damon Wayans character although his accent was getting mad annoying after awhile and Spike Lee pushes his message across so much you're wondering in your head "Yes we get it, racism really sucks...move on." All in all a slept on film from Spike Lee's filmo
75 Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986) - Oct 19, 2008
Mini-Review: My favorite Friday the 13th flick. Nothing can kill the Frankenstein Jason.
75 The Transporter (2002) - Oct 19, 2008
Mini-Review: This was such a fun action movie to watch; sure the story is very overdone and illogical but the awesome action direction from Cory Yuen and Jason Statham giving an excellent action hero performance make up for the plot holes. The action sequences in this film were just very unique and exciting.
95 Police Story (1985) - Oct 19, 2008
Mini-Review: This is Jackie Chan at the top of his game! The stunt work in this film is beyond extraordinary, the situations Jackie and his crew put themselves in immediately draws the audience into suspense that you look at some of the crazy stunts in this film and wonder "No I just didn't see that shit!" Some of the action scenes in this film have been "borrowed" by Hollywood films, the car chase down the shanty village was used in Bad Boys II (Jackie had a station wagon while Martin & Will had a Hummer, s
95 Munich (2005) - Oct 19, 2008
Mini-Review: Just an all out terrific film in my opinion, Spielberg should just stick to making these types of films.
90 Cocaine Cowboys (2006) - Oct 19, 2008
Mini-Review: Wicked documentary about the coke trade in Miami back in the late 70s and early 80s. Now I know where Scarface got its inspiration from, what a violent era and I wanted to know more about The Godmother, queen of the cocaine trade...she should have an entire movie to herself with those wild stories...This is a definitely worth a look.
80 The Monster Squad (1987) - Oct 19, 2008
Mini-Review: One of my favorite flicks when I was a kid, it still holds a lot of nostalgic value for me. Basically a horror version of The Goonies, only better.
90 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978) - Oct 19, 2008
Mini-Review: One of the best kung fu films ever made, Gordon Liu shows he got some mad kung fu skills and the training sequences are classic and realistic, often imitated by others but never achieved the same high level that this film did it. You must cop the Dragon Dynasty DVD, best version of the film available.
100 Almost Famous (2000) - Oct 19, 2008
Mini-Review: A terrific movie. Good actors, wonderful storytelling and a rockin soundtrack, the Tiny Dancer scene is classic.
95 Hard Boiled (1992) - Oct 19, 2008
Mini-Review: My favourite action movie of all time. John Woo's last Hong Kong flick and he goes out with a huge bang! Dirty Harry ain't got nothing compared to Tequila, the three big spectacular shootouts left me mucho excited and Chow Yun Fat is one of the coolest actors alive. MUST SEE!!!
