85 Zorba the Greek - Mar 14, 2010
65 Berlin Calling - Mar 14, 2010
90 The Passion of Joan of Arc - Mar 09, 2010
Mini-Review: For god's sake this could be restored in a version close to Dreyer's original. His shots on Falconetti's face are very impressive and so is her acting. Falconetti's facial expressions are just extraordinary. Together with Richard Einhorn's score, Passion is brutally captivating. 09-03-2010
90 The White Ribbon - Mar 07, 2010
Mini-Review: Some critics compared this movie to Ingmar Bergman's movies. And I have to admit this comparison is justified. The calm storytelling style and the unexcited camera work could for sure be described as bergmanesk. Moreover, Haneke deals with a whole bunch of topics that could also be found in a lot of Bergman movies. Since this isn't the worst reference, this movie comes along pretty impressive. 07-03-2010
10 Cannibal Holocaust - Mar 06, 2010
60 Nine - Mar 05, 2010
70 The Blind Side - Mar 03, 2010
65 Shutter Island - Mar 02, 2010
65 District 9 - Mar 01, 2010
80 The Hurt Locker - Mar 01, 2010
Mini-Review: There might be no real plot...probably just as in war. There might be a lack of personal relationship...probably just as in war. The movie might not have a message but what message does it need except for showing the brutality of war. It does that pretty good and builds quite some tension. And btw. Jeremy Renner's performance was very convincing. 01/03/10
