Bio: Hi,I'm a casual film enthusiast. To ensure that I rate the films with unbiased accuracy, I assign different weightage of narrative and stylistic elements when rating them based on the film genre. Eg. 60% Visuals and 40% Story for Action, Fantasy and Scifi genres while 70% Story and 30% Visuals for Thriller, Romance, and Comedy genres. Story basically covers the plot arrangement and content while visuals basically covers everything else, such as acting, sets, costumes, lighting, cinematography, film editing etc. Hopefully my ratings and mini reviews are helpful to those who have not watched the films. Pleased to meet you all ^_^

82 53% Sunshine (2007) - Rated 13 Sep 2015
"Very interesting theme, inspired by previous scifi films like 2001 Space Oddyssey and Alien franchise in terms of plot ideas and props (space suits, analogue interface and air-lock systems, AI etc). Inciting incident is slightly clichetic but the pacing and execution is down to Earth. A must watch for space movie lovers."
76 35% Boyhood (2014) - Rated 26 Feb 2015
"An overrated film with chronological dull biography which is too long for a movie."
83 57% Birdman (2014) - Rated 26 Feb 2015
"Let's talk about the good stuff first. Visually stunning. Amazing cinematography, reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock's Rope due to many single shots. Very good mixing between supernatural elements and realistic elements in presentation. Unfortunately, the main plot itself falls flat and clichetic. Subplots are very interesting but didn't really help to drive the main plot. The main character's decisions really raises a lot of question marks in me and the ending is unjustifiable and disappointing"
92 89% Grindhouse (2007) - Rated 28 Sep 2014
"Enjoyed this film thoroughly, funny dialogue, impressive action sequences. Tarantino'll always be at the top of my favorite directors lists. Go Girls Power!!!"
45 1% The Fault in Our Stars (2014) - Rated 26 Sep 2014
"A film that tries to be sentimental but has a stupid core script. A family who can afford chemo therapy for years and decent car to drive their daughter to church happened not being able afford a simple air ticket to Amsterdam for their dying daughter. An 18 years old virgin boy who knew he's going to die soon decided to pick up a sick girl in order to get laid and left the girl mourning for his death. What an asshole. That pretty much sums up the synopsis of this film. Skip this movie."
67 17% Edge of Tomorrow (2014) - Rated 26 Sep 2014
"Story is utterly rubbish. Script that defies time paradox, trap within a trap cringing plot twist, recycling of clips to save production cost, low fps animation, poor cause effect relation, no suspension of disbelief, everything is so bad in this movie. This movie tries so hard to imitate Aliens (1986) by including douchebag comrades and bulky useless exoskeletons but fails miserably in executions. Skip this movie."
70 22% Blended (2014) - Rated 16 Sep 2014
"Very predictable plot but I had some good laughs here and there."
66 14% Kick-Ass 2 (2013) - Rated 09 Sep 2014
"Typical highschool plot with subtle humors. Below average visuals. A mediocre movie."
87 70% Lust, Caution (2007) - Rated 29 Aug 2014
"Very impressive mise en scene. Amazing exploration in the field of visual pleasure, in which the film is famous for. Great pacing although it's 2.5 hours long. The script can be slightly over-dramatic and incoherent at times but it's an easy-to-understand film. Lee Ang also strived to add more depth to his direction but it isn't enticing due to the film's linear core storyline. Not recommended to underage audience of course :)"
59 5% New Wave (1990) - Rated 27 Aug 2014
"A major disappointment. 90% of the dialogue are copy paste of literature texts, which I'm certain is a deliberate but questionable choice. Recurring emphasis on existentialism element is very dull and hypnotic. Overall a beautiful concept but poorly executed."
