Mini-Review: Doesn't do justice to the novel, but then if it did it would never have made it past the censors. Given the constraints in which the creators had to work, it's an excellent movie with good performances from all the cast. See it - but buy or borrow the book too.
Mini-Review: Incomparable. One of the few movies I could watch over and over. The leads are excellent, the pace perfect, the cinematography brilliant. Not a "popcorn" movie but when you're in the mood for drama and a look at the human psyche, watch this.
Mini-Review: Good performances from an unknown cast (always more believable than seeing a Hollywood star in the same role), good scripting and an interesting based-on-real-life plot. Drags a little in places so the pacing could be improved, but overall a satisfying movie - one to watch with friends who'll talk with you about it afterwards. And a must for all students of psychology.
Mini-Review: A true classic. Depp just showing the talent that bloomed in later films, Pacino as brilliant as ever. Has a few problems with pacing, but these don't affect a gripping plot carried along by excellent performances even from those in minor roles. As a look at the conflicted morality of the "decent criminal" it has few peers.
