Mini-Review: Genial but unmemorable comedy musical. Geoffrey Rush is good (of course).
Mini-Review: A tremendously assured piece of film making, with a great cast.
Mini-Review: Too ridiculous to work as drama, but too self-important to work as escapist action. Stylish though, albeit in an extremely dated way.
Mini-Review: A pleasantly optimistic documentary on Afghanistan's extraordinary rise as a cricketing nation.
Mini-Review: The humourlessness, dull and arc-less protagonist, constant nods at other (generally better) Marvel movies, and unimaginative action scenes are one thing. But why is it so badly edited? I'm not film nerd enough to generally even notice the editing, but this was a poorly thrown together mess.
Mini-Review: An exceptional mash-up of cerebral sci-fi and gritty war action. One of the best movies of the decade; certainly one of the best directed.
Mini-Review: It looks great, but there's simply not enough there to really entertain. Perhaps a more interesting story would have helped.
Mini-Review: A solid non-fiction adaptation, well acted and scripted, but doesn't do a great deal with some of the interesting ideas the topic suggests.
Mini-Review: The boat grinding up the hill is a wonderfully rich image, but the film around it ultimately didn't move me.
Mini-Review: A tedious and poorly plotted montage of people hitting each other with knives and axes.
