50 American Grindhouse (2010) - Apr 05, 2011
Mini-Review: An exploitative docu about exploitation. Rounded, informative, and fun. Well-chosen interviewees and it takes itself just as seriously as its subject requires. If you find grindhouse cinema entertaining and interesting and wonderful in itself or for what it represents, this is a good watch. At the very least you'll come from it with about 100 films swirling around in your head that you want to see.
25 Alice in Wonderland (2010) - Mar 05, 2010
Mini-Review: Tim, I think we need to talk. I want us to start seeing other films. This just isn't working for me, and I've been feeling this way for a long time. I've told you time and time again to plant the red roses, yet you keep planting the white ones and I refuse to keep up this nonsensical painting business. I guess this is goodbye. PS: Stephen, call me later. ;)
100 Black Swan (2010) - Feb 04, 2011
Mini-Review: Darren, you beautiful, wonderful man. How about this: Why don't you just make a movie every year and then we can skip the silly business of disagreeing about which film is the Best Picture. What a spectacle this is. I was utterly blown away and feared I was literally going to fall out of my seat for two consecutive hours; not forwards, but toppling backwards over the backrest. It's sensational, powerful, riveting, terrifying, exciting and maybe most amazingly: real. And Natalie. Wow.
