Mini-Review: As fantasy goes, this is around the top of the league. Mythological references and subdued social commentary may sound like annoying partners, but they work to great effect here. I love watching this.
Mini-Review: These guys know their movies. As a formalist at heart, I love the way this movie slowly sets up its comedy for enormous payoff later on. It keeps rooms full of my friends laughing whenever it's on.
Mini-Review: This may be the clearest declaration of Luc Besson's weaknesses and strengths. Flawed though it may be, this story has stayed with me. The movie itself is practically a formula for the sort of action movie that one can truly love.
Mini-Review: It's a bit obvious at points, but it's a pretty solid story and the world it depicts is utterly fascinating. I'm not well-acquainted with football, but I was very much into this movie when I watched it.
Mini-Review: It's been a while, but I recall this as being utterly absorbing throughout. For a nasty story, it certainly is a lot of fun.
Mini-Review: For all its flaws, I rarely have a better time watching movies than when I'm watching this. This movie does its own thing, and that particular thing is pretty damn fun.
Mini-Review: Formulaic, but fun nonetheless. A fine intersection between sports movies and basic feminism, it is, and notable for a pretty good performance by Tom Hanks.
Mini-Review: This movie is a true classic. Few others have the daring to be so individual and the style to pull it off. There's a reason that this one is so popular.
Mini-Review: A decent romance with a few predictable but not insulting twists. It does not explore its premise as fully as it could, but dwelled on it enough to satisfy me. The chemistry between the leads is believable, but not particularly inspiring. It was enjoyable overall.
