Mini-Review: Kick-Ass features over-the-top violence, lots of funny moments, a great soundtrack, an involving and sometimes pretty deep story, many interesting characters. But it is Hit-Girl who is the obvious star of this movie, and as such, she elevates the movie from being really good to excellent. Morally reprehensible? Maybe. Incredible, adrenaline-releasing fun? Indeed.
Mini-Review: In the first installment, all the sex-related jokes and situations were simple exploitative fun.
Mini-Review: 'Running Scared' is not flawless by any means, but if you can watch it as the surreal fiction that it is, you will be thrilled by its visuals and ideas. I for one had a great time watching it, and I even think it is quite re-watchable.
Mini-Review: In each and every minute of the film, one can feel that it was made by a person who truly loves the characters and the universe they created. Thus, Serenity is entertaining, exciting, intelligent and visually appealing, but above all, it is a successfull blender of genres.
Mini-Review: It has a very, very slow start and in the beginning, the premise seems ludicrous rather than scary. But it gets gradually scarier and in the end confronts the viewer with pure, unfiltered fear.
Mini-Review: Shutter Island is a visually effective thriller, but its story is flawed and lacks the excitement of the movie's cinematography.
Mini-Review: The Fountain is visually stunning, but it lacks the emotional power that's behind Aronofsky's other movies.
Mini-Review: Good acting doesn't help justify the boring plot, pointless and overlong scenes and a script whose existence is in question. But the main problem is that even in its pointlessness, it seems contrived.
Mini-Review: Even though there is nothing like a real message, the beauty of the movie is undeniable and Kirsten Dunst is just stunning. Air certainly helped create the captivating, moody atmosphere.
