Mini-Review: Completely implausible events are used to push a weak plot forward.
Mini-Review: WTF? I finally watched this cult classic and I just can't see what's the big deal. During the first half it was just jaw-droppingly bad, I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. Not even bad in a good way, just awkward: sloppy directing, bad (over)acting, boring plot, absolutely horrible 80's sfx, just blah. There was some improvement in the second half; I actually laughed at some points during the finale! But overall, it was just a huge, huge disappointment. What's wrong with you people?
Mini-Review: Jet Li's best film.
Mini-Review: Pros: The titular character was great and felt real; hilarious comedy and exciting action in one sweet bundle (much like Shaun and Hot Fuzz); peppered with funny s/f geek culture references ("boring conversation anyway" was my favorite). Cons: Something about Paul the alien irked me; the Brit stars didn't quite fit in the American setting; the cursing joke got old really fast, but they kept milking and milking it.
