Mini-Review: The whole is far less than the sum of its parts. Some good moments, a decent concept, but after it's all said and done, not really worth sitting through.
Mini-Review: I have no suggestions on how to have made this movie better or how to make the material palatable at all, but whatever this final product is comes across as subpar execution, caricature-acting, and a strange narrative device overall.
Mini-Review: The concept of a movie about Nazi zombies seems awesome on paper, and the concept does prove to be difficult to mess up...though the filmmakers and actors did try. However, there is just enough camp and novelty in this film to force me to recommend it to others.
Mini-Review: Better than the first one, but the story is still on the ho-hum side. Lesson to aspiring screenwriters: Sometimes not explaining what's going on and shrouding everything in mystery does detract from a story.
Mini-Review: I can't rank it higher than Craven's version; that would just feel like blasphemy, but this was a great remake in every aspect. I have to add that Garret Dillahunt is great in pretty much everything, though.
Mini-Review: I watched this and I don't remember watching it. I think that says it all.
Mini-Review: Above average despite being formulaic and derivative; the film borrows heavily from films already well established within the genre. It gets extra points for some good performances, and some excellent cinematography.
Mini-Review: Just because I recognize some of the settings doesn't mean I'm going to get all "Yay! New Jersey!" and not score this movie horribly. This is high school film contest bad.
Mini-Review: ::shrug:: Um...it's OK? I guess. I mean, the acting is pretty bad, but I expected that. The writing is bad, but I expected that. If that sounds good to you, watch Bleed. You will hit those expectations easily.
Mini-Review: OK. I like Ryan Nicholson and his spirit in making films, but I have to question what the hell he was thinking every step of the way with Hanger. I understand he's a skilled make-up and effects guy, but there was no need to make every character in the film look like a Dick Tracy villain. Furthermore, there is a fine line when it comes to trying to shock an audience in some meaningful way. Hanger ignores that line to the point that you think 13 year old special ed kids made this film.
