Mini-Review: One of the best Korean films I've seen. Brilliant acting by the two leads, and realistic, in that its based on a true story, but also manages to insert humour into a very serious situation. If it holds up on further viewings though, time will tell. Not that I plan on watching it again for a while yet.
Mini-Review: Nothing you havn't seen before done better in a handful of other films.
Mini-Review: I just don't know. It was sort of creepy, due to the sound design (if you can, watch it with headphones or a really good set up) but otherwise it was trying too hard to be different from everything else and ended up just being the same - if that makes sense. It isn't the revolution in horror all these 4 and 5 star reviews I keep reading were talking about, I have no idea where that came from. I suppose I've seen too many films to just not know whats going to happen, perhaps ruined it for myself
Mini-Review: I miss Michael Keaton. He was great in these screwball roles, hard to think that he actually a pretty decent Batman too.
Mini-Review: The best action film I've seen in god knows how long. intense, and the score, whilst you might not think it makes that much difference, is amazing.
Mini-Review: Not bad, although the ending sort of ruined everything
Mini-Review: Not what I expected. When it's violent, it's really violent. But it boils down the Yakuza to what it most likely is - a group of people sent nowhere, killing time waiting to do whatever it was they were sent there to do in the first place - featuring rock paper scissors style russian roulette.
Mini-Review: In trying to hard to have a meaningful plot, you sit bored or indifferent until the next fight scene. Not a bad first effort from the guys behind The Raid, but, obviously, I'm expecting The Raid to blow this out of the water.
Mini-Review: When it's funny, it's really funny. Although, its only funny because Donald Glover is in it, and he's very funny. Funny.
Mini-Review: Meh. Still it's Paul W.S. Anderson's best film...which isn't saying much. It starts decent enough, and then just slowly descends into predictable horror cliches
