A highly styled 'genre' film which can perhaps be seen as a pastiche of all gangster movies. Tom Reagan is the laconic anti-hero of this amoral tale which is also, paradoxically, a look at morals within the criminal underworld of the 1930s. Two rival gangs vie for control of a city where the police are pawns, and the periodic busts of illicit drinking establishments are no more than a way for one gang to get back at the other. Black humour and shocking violence compete for screen time as we question whether or not Tom, right-hand man of the Irish mob leader, really has a heart. (imdb)

Just an oddball mama's boy from the back bayous of Louisiana, Bobby Boucher (Sandler) never wanted anything more than to quench the thirst of the dehydrated athletes who treat him like dirt! But when Coach Klein (Winkler) makes the call that allows Bobby to finally stand up for himself, it unleashes a torrent of bottled-up frustration ... and exposes a talent for tackling that transforms him from a meek "water distribution engineer" into the hardest hitter ever to roam the gridiron! The Wicker Tree
"Often, watching a film I find lacking, I ask, "Where's the good?" The good, however, is not to be found in THE WICKER TREE. It's a film best watched with a dropped jaw and raised eyebrows. Robin Hardy's clumsy, lifeless direction further dooms his monumentally asinine script (Anthony Shaffer is MUCH missed); the acting is uniformly awful, with the worst Texan accents on record; the cinematography is mediocre; it's boring; it somehow messes up gratuitous nudity. It is an undiluted disaster." - 8
