65 44% The Waterboy (1998) - Rated 14 Mar 2009
"What might be the last pure Sandler film to make me laugh, this one has an endearing quality for some reason. Maybe it's because Waterboy is such a likable character. Not to mention the great line, "Don't smoke crack." Pretty hard to not laugh at some moments."
77 64% The Breakfast Club (1985) - Rated 14 Mar 2009
"Really was one of the defining 80s movies. I prefer the silliness of Better Off Dead or Ferris Bueller to the occasional melodrama that pops up in this one, but it does have EMILIO!!!!!"
28 8% Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) - Rated 14 Mar 2009
"Points for coining the phrase, "Nuked the fridge," and not much else."
93 96% The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - Rated 14 Mar 2009
"Get bust livin', or get busy dyin'. One of the best movies I've seen. Almost makes you want to go prison...."
87 87% Eastern Promises (2007) - Rated 14 Mar 2009
"Cronenberg is a friggin genius. Viggo Mortensen turns in the best performance of his career, and that's just the start. The subtlety of the plot is what makes this constantly watchable, and the bath house fight scene is one of the best I do believe ever recorded. And that cut throat... eeewwwwww."
88 90% Slumdog Millionaire (2008) - Rated 14 Mar 2009
"One of the best of '08 to be sure, this just a sweet story from start to end. It has so many elements going for it: the sweet love story, the charming actors, the intense childhood moments, and a happy little train sequence followed by the Taj Majal. It's just a damn good movie from Mr. Boyle."
79 68% Jaws (1975) - Rated 05 Dec 2008
"Okay, this is a classic movie, but I was never scared like other people were. Like most great horror films, the music makes for 90% of the tension. But I did enjoy this one, really. Who doesn't like the old man telling stories? Shit, that should've been the whole movie."
80 72% Men in Black (1997) - Rated 05 Dec 2008
"Highly entertaining movie that really made people realize, "Wow, that Tommy Lee Jones guy is funnier than Will Smith sometimes." Seriously, I found myself constantly entertained the whole way through. No real depth or substance here. Just flat-out entertainment. Oh, and Vicent's turn as the villain is one of the greatest comedic performances of all time. I'm not joking."
36 14% I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007) - Rated 05 Dec 2008
"Any movie with Steve Buscemi gets a minimum of 20, so this movie's other stuff combined is worth 16 points. In other words, about 16 minutes of this crap was watchable. Buscemi was on-screen for about ten, maybe fifteen of them. You get the idea."
77 64% Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) - Rated 05 Dec 2008
"The weaker of the two installments but still a fun movie to watch. The blood squirts and flashbacks have an incredibly biting, humorous nature about them. Tarantino has such a strange sense of humor sometimes, but I can see the light in it. And the animated sequence, while a little overlong, was damn interesting."
