80 The Last Samurai (2003) - Aug 13, 2007
Mini-Review: Was pleasently suprised by this moive. Didn't think I would enjoy it at all but ended up loving it. Very involving film. Emotional in places. Great acting and directing, good storyline. Definatly worth seeing.
95 Saw (2004) - Aug 13, 2007
Mini-Review: Awsome and original horror film that has you gripped from the start. Great plot line....brilliant twist that you don't see coming. Very imaginative. The acting lets it down in some small places....but overall great performances from everyone.
50 Wolf Creek (2005) - Aug 13, 2007
Mini-Review: As a horror film, Wolf Creek is pretty good, but hype killed it. It got all these reviews saying it was one of the scariest films of the year etc etc....and while it has its breif moments, it's not scary by any stretch of the imagination. Wooden acting in places, which is a shame. It's not terrible, and isn't a total waste, but it isn't anything special.
75 Shaun of the Dead (2004) - Aug 13, 2007
Mini-Review: This film is hillarious. Jokes throughout that make you laugh, but also some strong (comic) gore. Certainly not like horror film gore, but not exactly pleasant. Good acting from almost everyone, and a very interesting take on the zombie movie.
50 House of Wax (2005) - Aug 13, 2007
Mini-Review: Dissapoiting to say the least. The story is a good idea, but the directing, acting and cinematography lets this film down big time. Not to mention the special effects (or should that be "lack of?") This could have been an awsome horror film, but instead it's a predictable, quite boring, and quite sad attempt at a horror film. I wouldn't say definitely don't see it.....but don't make any extra efforts to see it. It's just not worth it.
95 Hostel (2005) - Aug 13, 2007
Mini-Review: Yet another awsome horror film. And a whole league above "Saw" in the gore section! The story could be better, but it serves it's purpose. The acting is good, as is the directing. And the gore is just amazing. A bit too much hype from people, but it's not dissapointing. Several cringe-worthy moments. This is certainly the better of the two films to come from Eli Roth (the other being Cabin Fever)
98 Evil Dead II (1987) - Aug 13, 2007
Mini-Review: Well....what can I say....it's Evil Dead 2....it's Bruce Campbell....it's Sam Rami. Just Campbell and Raimi alone would make this film worth seeing. A great sequal to a great original. Slighty confusing as to whether it really is a sequal or if it's a remake, but it's an awsome film whatever.
70 Final Destination 3 (2006) - Aug 13, 2007
Mini-Review: A welcome return for the FD series, and it's good to have the original writers back! The first of the trilogy was very good, the second was ok, but nothing great, the third is very good. The rollercoaster idea isn't the best idea, but there wasn't alot else they could do really. Some original, imaginative, and gory deaths throughout. Probably the goriest of the three. Worth seeing for sure....at the cinema if you can...can't imagine it being quite the same on a tv screen.
95 Saw II (2005) - Aug 13, 2007
Mini-Review: Wow! A sequal that is as good, if not better, than the orignal. You don't get that very often, but Saw 2 is an awsome example. Once again a brilliant storyline from Leigh Whannell and James Wan. Original "games" and deaths, and also some background story on Jigsaw....which is very good. If you liked the first then you HAVE to see this one!
90 Mystic River (2003) - Aug 13, 2007
Mini-Review: A very emotionally involving film. Brilliant storyline and amazing acting. Awsome performance from Sean Penn (but then when isn't his acting awsome?!) Brilliant directing from Mr Eastwood. If you haven't seen this then I urge you too, if you have then you (should) know how awsome it is.
