Mini-Review: It is unfortunate that Herzog's insipid, uninspired narration does a good job of robbing these otherwise well-captured images of their underlying significance. In other respects, the documentary is worth watching, particularly for those who don't already know a lot about Buddhism or even about Eastern religions in general.
Mini-Review: I don't know what's wrong with you people. I rank this among the lowest achievements of humankind and am lost for words when trying to describe how awful it is in every way I can entertain. This is so bad I will have to re-think the scores I gave to the worst films I have ever watched since nothing I have ever seen even compares.
Mini-Review: Yet another mediocre film people over-analyze over and over until they think it's great. This film makes you wonder whether it had an editor at all. Yet I loved the photographic aspects (some of the best lighting I have ever seen) and was particularly impressed by Mitchum's harrowing performance (except when badly directed, which of course wasn't his fault). The final scenes border on the ridiculous, and the ending is just pathetic.
Mini-Review: Few westerns focus on character development, and this is one of them. The performances are great all around, but perhaps what catches the eye the most, aside from the fact that this is a psychological western, is that it's filmed almost entirely outdoors and there are not sets at all. A different experience for western lovers, very much worth watching.
