Mini-Review: It's almost as if Joel and Ethan have developed their own sect of dark comedy. They are able to piece together sheer nonsense like an intricate jigsaw. Not to mention this contains the best compilation of characters to EVER grace a comedy.
Mini-Review: Speechless. David Lynch was able to lure me deeper and deeper into a absolutely beautiful nightmare. It's an intricately constructed injection of fear, passion, and mystery straight to the heart. It'll take control of you, and haunt you for years to come. A masterpiece if I've ever seen one.
Mini-Review: No, you don't get a morally-sound and predictable teenager. Kate Jarvis puts in one of the finest and most important roles of the year; depicting a 15-year-old who's been the victim of parental negligence to bitter perfection. Fish Tank is an honest study of a character thats been taken over by a negatively influenced persona. Andrea Arnolds film is anything but orthodox, and sadly it will be overlooked and wrongfully misunderstood by a one-track mind. A gem.
Mini-Review: Flawed and maybe a letdown as a film, but very intriguing. Looks like Ol' Martin has taken a page out of a Haneke handbook as his latest film has viewers and critics in a frenzy. The enigmatic imagery is oddly reminiscent of "The Shining", which coincidentally could contain the most complex subliminal messaging ever to be constructed by a director. I can't pinpoint it, but I get the feeling Scorsese had something else in store.
