Mini-Review: It was a brilliant decision to take a movie with a lead actor who can't really deliver dialog and turn it into what amounts to a silent film. The music and visuals vastly outweigh the human speech here, and that's okay, because Milius builds tension and emotion just fine with those tools, and there is imagery here that will linger.
Mini-Review: Sweet and funny, with a brilliant climax.
Mini-Review: Overlong and unfunny.
Mini-Review: Flawed and underpopulated - there are like six speaking parts in the whole movie - but undeniably beautiful too.
Mini-Review: It's wonderful to watch these great actors delivering these great lines, but damned if it isn't bleak as fuck.
Mini-Review: A beautiful noir classic.
Mini-Review: A well-crafted kids' movie that resists the temptation to do nothing but wallow in nostalgia.
