Mini-Review: There's a lot to love about this movie, but it feels like it never tries to not be safe, to venture outside the bounds of these odd disability themed rom-coms. Probably being a little harsh after coming off the amazing Oasis which really pushes the boundaries of that kind of movie.
Mini-Review: I'm frazzled by the hateful reviews of this movie. I went into it not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. It's charming, delightful, and I liked both stories. The drama side is rather paper thin, but I can't be too negative on it as I had a smile on my face almost the entire time. Doesn't pretend to be anything more than what it is.
Mini-Review: Zach Gilford absolutely makes this movie. There are a lot of faults in this movie, but the core ideas, though not very well executed, I found very unique in a high school movie. The idea that these characters are really playing dress-up in their intense need to feel like adults. The strange bond that teenagers develop when social lines are blurred. But most of all, how brave it is to make a character like Johnny, a blank slate developed and in the end, abused by the two other main characters.
Mini-Review: No chemistry between the leads. Side characters that are not much more than cartoon caricatures. Tries too hard to be sickeningly sweet at the appropriate moments.
