Mini-Review: A fun zombie film that may be extremley corny but still very entertaining to watch :) Sure compared to the great zombie films by Romero it might seem silly, but I was very entertained with a good storyline and a good crop of likeable high school characters. Some cool death scenes and the right amount of blood & guts also did well for the film. On the downside however it was silly and a bit over the top at times, and falls into that category of Horror films that are funny for the wrong reasons.
Mini-Review: Two very different films but together they make for a hell of a double-feature. 'Grindhouse' is 'Planet Terror', an action-packed zombie film that while its a bit on the wild side its very entertaining. 'Death Proof' however is completley different and has fewer action scenes and focuses more on conversation, with a killer car chase sequence at the end. 'Planet Terror' is obviously the better film of the two, but together they really do blend well and make for one hell of a night!
Mini-Review: While not as enjoyable as 'Planet Terror', the other film from 'Grindhouse', its still an action packed film with Kurt Russell playing the perfect villain. The scenes where the girls are doing nothing but talking are rather dull, but worth the wait as the action scenes is where the film really lights up. The second half is better than the first thanks to more likeable characters. Overall not bad but because so much time is spent on dull conversations the film is a bit of a letdown.
Mini-Review: A very impressive film from the twisted mind of Tim Burton. I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did but it really was a great movie with so much visually to look at and so many original Alice characters turned into something so much more by the hand of Tim Burton. The storyline, which was infact a sequel, was great and flowed nicely with a few twists and turns along the way. Acting wise everyone was great, nods to Mia who was perfect as Alice. Overall a great film and I just loved it :)
Mini-Review: Probably my least favourite of the five 'Bring It On' films mainly because there was little about cheerleading in this film and more about latino-based themes. Fans of the original 'Bring It On' won't know what they are watching. However it was still enjoyable to watch thanks to Christina Milian, who was perfect as head cheerleader Lina. The other actors were also pretty good. Storyline line was OK (but nothing too great). Overall a reasonable addition to the series, but probably the worst.
Mini-Review: A solid Horror film that had a very strong first half but a somewhat disappointing second half despite having such a strong lead-in. Cast, characters and storyline were all very strong and while I haven't seen the original I have a feeling this definitley did it justice has it has received generally positive reviews. One scene in particular (the rape scene of course) is painful to watch but executed very well by the actors. Overall a strong film that is definitley worth checking out :)
Mini-Review: Fans of 'The Lost Boys' will be happy to see Edgar Frog back in action, but probably disappointed with the rest of the film. I however enjoyed it. While its nothing compared to 'The Lost Boys', its almost like an updated version instead of a sequel. Death scenes were a tad disappointing, as was the conclusion. Storyline was good with likeable characters and good acting and for a direct-to-DVD film it was pretty good. Overall worth checking out if you're a fan of the first film.
Mini-Review: Bit of fun to be had here but compared to the likes of National Lampoon's Vacation series it's merely nothing. Cedric The Entertainer provides probably the only laughs in this film thanks to his witty comedy style because storyline it's your predictable family vacation. Its also very stereotypical when referring to anything about black people. Acting is OK as most cast members play the roles well and work well together. Overall an OK comedy flick to pass the time, but nothing amazing to be seen.
Mini-Review: A likeable sequel to the 2006 film 'The Pink Panther' with the main players (Martin, Reno, Mortimer) returning once again. Steve Martin obviously takes the lead once again in a film full of slapstick comedy that not everyone may 'get' but fans of the original will be more than happy. A few good additions to the cast like John Cleese and the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai were more than welcome also. Overall it's not as good as the first but still a respectable sequel with plenty of comedy for everyone!
Mini-Review: While it's a good Horror film its a disappointing sequel to the Rob Zombie gem 'Halloween' from 2007. I like the fact that its still the same characters/actors and the story pretty much leads on from where we left off. However there were simply a few things missing and the constant swearing, mainly the word f**k was also unecessary. As always the death scenes are gory and brutal which was good. Ending was a letdown but overall the film was a respectable sequel that Halloween fans should enjoy.
