0 The Happening (2008) - Jul 26, 2010
Mini-Review: Any money you spend on this film and any time you spend watching it is money and time you will never get back from life itself. M. Night Shyamalan has disgraced his own name. This is a soap box Bible beating pulpit for environmentalism. Starts out so promising, ends with some of the worst scenes in Hollywood history. Wahlberg is ridiculously awful in this film. I felt embarrassed to watch it and felt "raped by badness" when I left the theater. This is my most hated movie of all time. A piece of-
90 Hellboy (2004) - Jul 26, 2010
100 Rocky Balboa (2006) - Jul 26, 2010
Mini-Review: Forget those over-blown cliched sequels you remember. Sure they were cool action, but they became copies of themselves. Rocky Balboa manages to do what I never thought could be done -- it returns to the gold that made it magic. A brand new story with a classic heart. This is the ultimate finale to the Rocky saga. It is deep and strong and true to the heart of one of America's greatest humble heroes. Just as fantastic as the original. The kind of movie that makes you feel proud to be alive.
95 The Producers (2005) - Jul 26, 2010
Mini-Review: Sexy as Hell, funny as crap, and as twisted as a musical can be. I don't like musicals. I loved this one. Who knew Hitler could be so funny. This in-your-face Fuery of comedy is as satisfying comedically as Inglorious Basterds is violently at giving the finger to Nazi Germany. I relished every scene and the hilarious actors who carried to comedy with effortless style. Not evenly paced and bit long, but worth your full attention. And Uma Thurman turns sexy into an artform.
95 The Jacket (2005) - Jul 26, 2010
Mini-Review: Simple and profound sci-fi tale. Manages to do with a small budget what bigger movies have not been able. Brody is amazing in this film. And Keira Knightley is hotter than ever doing a grungy sexy American accent. Solid film with a strong ending. Unforgettable, actually.
100 The Thing (1982) - Jul 26, 2010
Mini-Review: I am still dumbfounded at how a movie made so long ago manages more realistic special effects that CG today. On that alone, this movie must be seen. The effects are more creative than any I have ever seen. This movie has a timeless feel. This is John Carpenter at his strongest. Haunting, jolting, disturbing, and it still scares the Hell out of me no matter how many times I see it. The pacing, the slow build-up, the execution of scenes, and the finale work as one. A master's masterpiece.
100 My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) - Jul 26, 2010
Mini-Review: Not a big fan of chick flicks. As a man I usually like my love stories surrounded by violence or with unhappy endings -- but this movie pried my heart from my cold dead hands. Charming, endearing, truly funny, and pure. This is a simple movie with grand purpose. Somehow I could relate to these Greek characters. A heartfelt expression of romance and family and all of what is good in life. This movie is a modern fairytale that puts most fluffed up chick flick to shame. Great!
95 Shallow Hal (2001) - Jul 26, 2010
Mini-Review: This movie takes the most over-used of cliches and makes it worth re-stating: it's what's inside that counts. Comedy moments abound in this legitimate love story. Jack Black at his best. Great concept for a film and executed with comedic balance. An odd, sometimes repulsive, sometimes endearing, but always hilarious way to say "I love you" without being boring. Fantastic film.
85 Sideways (2004) - Jul 26, 2010
