Mini-Review: The best part - it's in Italian, probably the funniest language in the world.
Mini-Review: It might have been way ahead of its time, but it still failed to move me or present itself as an intelligent piece of cinematic tape.
Mini-Review: Quite good, interesting, schocking, blah blah blah, I'm really really hungry. ='/
Mini-Review: Highly over-rated. An unoriginal, stupid and cliched "from rags to riches" story. Nothing to see here, move along.
Mini-Review: I never knew Brazil was like this! Released 5 years before Slumdog Millionaire, this movie shows how a true "slife of gangster-slum life" flick should look like. A classic film noir in the sunny outskirts of a 2nd world country with several ingenious twists. Fuck yeah!
Mini-Review: Ah, good old David Lynch, artist grandeur. While this movie is clearly better than his previous effort, Dune (n. b., the main pratagonist is once again Kyle MacLachlan), it's still not that fucking great. The biggest draw would probably have to be Dennis Hopper's character and his curse highly-excessive-in-curse-words manner of speaking (music group Mr. Bungle famously used a lot of samples from this movie).
Mini-Review: Another war movie. Oh, but how different it is. Set in the days of WW2, "Katyn" tells the tragic story of war-time Poland and its citizens. Even though most Westerners associate the end of WW2 as a highly joyous occasion that marks the end of oppression, this is not the case for Katyn's heroes. To them, an even worse fate - the Soviet occupation - lies ahead. As usual, Andzhej Wajda provides great directing, a captivating story and an ending one will hardly forget.
Mini-Review: Biggest piece of shit ever...
Mini-Review: WTF, David Lynch?! What's wrong with you? Yeah, yeah, that's one of your first movies, but seriously? Terrible acting, terrible special effects, outrageously stupid plot - this definitely does not live up to expectations one would have for You. Jesus, that was shitty.
Mini-Review: A brilliant portrayal of a brilliant mind. Have you ever heard of the great Mozart? You know, the child prodigy that could play the piano blindfolded at the age of 5 and that is now considered one of the greatest Western composers of all time. Well, this movie will probably change your preconceptions about the man. Capable of both intellectualism and silliness, "Amadeus" is an existential portrait of an artist and a human being. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
