Mini-Review: stylish. gorgeously shot and edited. an all-star cast that they didn't spend the entire budget for, and who didn't coast through the picture. omg what the hell's not to like?!

Mini-Review: what a beautiful picture... with some serious reservations. lovely story full of unanswered questions, mystery, the unknowability of others and even of life itself. so very christian in it's understanding that beauty can save the world... and yet deeply marred by sloppy thinking and lazy knee-jerk anti-christianity. it could have been a very great film but instead is deeply flawed. still... so beautiful!

Mini-Review: everything about this picture is astonishing: from the beautiful opening credits to the establishing shots of the last sailboat fishing fleet. from the hugely attractive character tracy creates to the unforgettable minor characters. it has plenty of limitations, especially to viewers of the twenty-first century, and it transcends every single one. a very great movie. very, very great.

Mini-Review: all the constituent parts of a movie are here realized almost perfectly. though it meant only to be an entertainment it transcends every limitation it could have and becomes that rare thing: a work of art.
