65 Drag Me to Hell - Feb 03, 2010
Mini-Review: I enjoyed this movie, but I had forgotten that I had seen it some two months later. Nothing really spectacular about this film, and nothing terrible. it reminded me of Thinner.
80 Porco Rosso - Jan 14, 2010
Mini-Review: Not my favorite Miyazaki film, but still a damned fine movie. The main characters were enjoyable and the overall feel of the movie was dreamy, like I have come to expect from studio Ghibli. Plus, read up on this movie before you watch it! The references to real history make the movie that much more fun to watch.
78 Avatar - Jan 14, 2010
Mini-Review: if we're talking about the movie as a complete thing, then this isn't that good of a film. If we're talking about an experience, it's pretty enjoyable. The 3D is great and very immersive. That said, I can't imagine watching this movie without the 3D. The story has been done a million times and I wasn't engaged with the characters at all. Too, Weaver's acting was terrible at best. And though I didn't like the story, I loved the visual effects and that carried this movie.
50 Paranormal Activity - Oct 17, 2009
Mini-Review: This is my review for this film as it was presented on the big screen . NOTE - This movie would be a thousand percent scarier at home, as the entire film takes place in one house. Weak story. Silly plot holes. That said, this was a horror movie and not raging bull. Props for only spending 11 grand. But this had the air of some sort of internet video, and not a real horror film. Plus, the RIDICULOUS studio gave out the ending in the trailer. That didn't help this movie at all. Not terrible.
62 The Last House on the Left - Oct 06, 2009
Mini-Review: Hard time reviewing this one. on one hand, there were some super fun elements and good setup to the suspense. However, some of that setup did go over the top, and I still hate the fake "made you jump just to make you jump" parts. I guess those don't work on me. I DID love the "bad guys", especially the girl character. The story is good, but not crazy compelling. This movie is just a little better than average for me. It's better than most remakes.
40 Wanted - Oct 06, 2009
Mini-Review: I was actually insulted by the ridiculous nature of this movie. The ending was as bad as anything that I have ever seen. The acting was AWFUL. The story was disjointed and jumpy. To be honest, Jolie's naked ass is perfect, so that boosted the score on this one a lot.
55 9 - Oct 06, 2009
Mini-Review: This movie wouldn't be close to a 55 if the visuals weren't SO stunning. The story is empty and the plot is silly and predictable. The only thing that saves this film is that it might look better than any CGI movie ever. If you're looking for story, go elsewhere!
99 Inglourious Basterds - Aug 27, 2009
Mini-Review: as good of a movie that I have ever seen. great characters. wonderfully shot. amazing dialog. A suspense. I loved the film and consider it a modern classic.
66 Orphan - Jul 30, 2009
Mini-Review: I just read a review on here that called this movie suspenseful and scary. I couldn't disagree more. I thought this was a pretty basic "horror movie" that didn't have much in the way of character development. If you've seen the omen, you know the story line of this. Of course, the "twist" at the end is different, and not very twisty. Pretty bland.
85 The Hangover - Jul 30, 2009
Mini-Review: This really is one of the funnier movies that I have seen in ages. Everyone is great from a cast standpoint and the jokes are on from start to finish. This is a must see.
