Mini-Review: This movie focuses on how people keep up appearances, while deep inside their lonely, f*cked up, true self is hidden. While watching this movie I was wondering if the movie was exaggerating the facts, or if it was closer to the truth than one wants to admit. The cast, characters, ink black humor is all great. The movie touches on very heavy topics but it%u2019s pleasant to watch because of the black humor (which enables you to not take it all too serious).
Mini-Review: This was a very interesting movie. The concept and the first two parts of the movie where great, and so is Cage. But the last part of the movie with the chase, the death, the character arc where a bit to cliché. The way it was written, it feels like it was meant to be a cliché but still it didn't do justice to the beginning of the movie. Still, kaufman writing a movie about himself writing THAT movie is in itself genius and though the movie is not perfect it is a small jewel.
Mini-Review: A heavy, depressing but overall beautifull and thoughtfull human story about a father protecting his son in a post-apocalyptic world. The acting is brilliant. Both main actors are very believable and you really can feel their emotions. The focus of the movie is on the father and the son characters (so no big set-pieces, just two people trying to survive in a harsh world). The movie ends on an interesting tone, and the movie as a whole makes you think about what makes a human being.
Mini-Review: Allthough the images are beautifull, and some of the scene's are cool (especially the scene where time speeds up), the film as a whole felt lacking. Some shots felt as if they where ripped straight out of koyaaniqatsi (and even though the director of this movie was the dir. of cinematography, it still felt cheap_.
Aslo the music was boring and the whole move just didn't provoce thought the way koyaaniqatsi did, So what's left is a compilation of beatifull images, with little substance
Mini-Review: The main story concept could have worked in a good science fiction movie. To bad this isn't a good science fiction movie, and actualy not really a good movie at all. There are a lot of plot holes, a lot of badly done clichés and nothing new or interesting. Equilibrium was better.
Mini-Review: An interesting movie. Lot's of beautifull shots, cool acting and nice t see an " epic historic movie" doing some " off beat" things (like skipping most of the major battlescenes and stopping the movie just before the " major events " in the characters life.
The movie starts of a bit slow, with a lot of repatition(he get's captured, he escapes, you see him runing a loong beautifull fields and he get's captured again)..
It also lacked a bit backstory on mongolian life.
