Mini-Review: Best movie I've seen in years. Excellent crime noir with many memorable performances.
Mini-Review: Gave up 34 minutes into this. Serkis and Lithgow and the FX were fine, but they didn't know what to do with the human characters. The protagonist did a reset from bad guy to good guy as soon as the plot required him to take care of the monkey, and the other human characters were scum apparently to motive us to root more for the furry little folks. As David Cross commented on Tim Burton's rendition of the PotA movie: "Get your stinking movie away from me, you damn, dirty screenwriter!"
Mini-Review: Decent ass-kicker noir.
Mini-Review: Much of it was excellent, and it was certainly a wild visual ride. On the negative side, I've read and seen this storyline too many times before.
Mini-Review: I've liked Denzel Washington in most of his roles. I liked the
Mad Max elements within this movie. But a plotline based on God having told Denzel to take the last bible "West" because all other copies were burned by sinners, is just a bit much. I suppose his copy might have gotten burned, too, just to make me feel better about the movie, but I knew that wasn't going to happen... The plot twist at the end is telegraphed loudly enough to wake you if you fall asleep watching the movie.
Mini-Review: A ton of problems, but found it as watchable as one of the lamer episodes of the original series. Watchable, but cringe-worthy.
Mini-Review: Metric tons of fun.
