Mini-Review: Is it a comedy? Is it a conspiracy theory? Is it science fiction? Is it a musical? Is it a pornographic sit-com? Is it political satire? It's all of them, it's everything, it's nothing. It's logic lies in it's irrationality, it's meaning lies in it's meaninglessness. It's not a movie, it's an experience. And a unique one too. With no question, one of the most original films of the decade.
Mini-Review: One of Bergman's more accessible -by that i don't mean lighter- films, Through a Glass Darkly is a three act chamber drama focusing on inner wounds of individuals of a family, and their reflections on each other. First film of Bergman's faith trilogy(the other two being Winter Light and Silence) Through a Glass Darkly successfully captures human nature, moral conflicts inside men, and the nature of men's relationship with god.
Mini-Review: Two character studies - travis' and the city's- meshed perfectly, an unforgettable performance from De Niro, and a haunting score by Bernard Hermann. The definitive film of the 70's.
Mini-Review: decent, but not good enough to name among coens best films.
Mini-Review: Among Fellini's later works, Amarcord never fails to entertain the viewer with colorful images(some of which belong to Fellini's own childhood experiences) great music, and lively stories.
Mini-Review: Arguably Fellini's best, 8 1/2 is a wildly imaginative trip into the inner world of it's main character, Guido, a movie director who is hardly breathing under the weight of his responsibilities, his past and present relationships, and his inner conflicts. As Guido slowly - but surely - gets lost in his memories, fantasies and dreams, we get lost in one of the most creative, beautifully constructed and visually stunning films ever.
