Mini-Review: Simply put, a beautiful film.
Mini-Review: Remember when M. Night Shyamalan remade War of the World and called it all differenty?
Mini-Review: Period pieces that fail to maintain a semblance of authentic dialogue are always off putting. Hearing contemporary vernacular in a mediaeval setting just doesn't work. The film gets an extra ten points for featuring Shannyn Sossamon.
Mini-Review: It takes a lot of creative liberties, but there is so much charism exuded by the actors, sets, and costumes that its hard not to enjoy this film on at least one level.
Mini-Review: A compelling take the superhero origin story, Donnie Darko is succesful in most of what it tries to achieve. Jake Gyllenhaal gives one of the most interesting performances of his career and the supporting cast is absolutely wonderful.
Mini-Review: The movie will give you all sorts of head aches.
Mini-Review: No. Just, no.
Mini-Review: A veritable hand book for the Hot Topic generation, The Addams Family is actually a smarter comedy that it may first appear to be. The performances are inspired; topped off with humorously morbid dialogue and slapstick humor that never feels excessive.
Mini-Review: If you haven't seen this by now, kill your self.
Mini-Review: In my opinion, western kung-fu movies have never been all that successful, but the Romeo & Juliet meets Way of the Fist things works...sometimes. The fight scenes are fun and frentic for the most part, but martial arts fans are going to be left unsatisfied. Watch it for Aaliyah if nothing else.
