Mini-Review: Very inspiring story, even if portrayed somewhat quaintly.
Mini-Review: Arguably, the greatest D-Day sequence ever produced. The remainder of the film is redeeming less for its accuracy in portraying authentic WWII experience, but for its compelling message: the sacrifices made by some so that others may have the opportunity to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. Implicit in this message is the admonition to "earn" the sacrifice others have made by pursuing these liberties to the fullest. Hank and Spielberg have since collaborated on more realistic WWII stories.
