Mini-Review: It's about time the multiplex features a romantic comedy with a multi-cultural cast. As a New Jersean, I can honestly say Hitch did for New York what Pretty Woman did for Rodeo Drive. The city is appealing, the premise is intriguing and the acting quite wonderful. Only lovelorn prudes that have no hope of a great sex life could hate this movie.

The Happening (2008) - Aug 22, 2009

Mini-Review: I was disappointed to see such harsh reviews from the critics when there are clearly much sillier and stupid films out there. "Zohan" was about 60% at rotten tomatoes, while "The Happening" was at 14%. The disappointment didn't last long when I realized, given the information above, if critics had liked this movie, that might have been a bad thing. I focused my attention on interviews w/ Shyamalan himself talking about the filminsteadofthe pretentiouscriticswhohavegrownaccustomtohatinghismovies.

Superbad (2007) - Aug 22, 2009

Mini-Review: I also saw an advanced screening of Superbad. I didn't want to see it as I don't enjoy the typical "teen sex comedy." While the story is about 3 teenagers and their awkward sex lives who are trying desperately to get booze and thusly get laid, this was a much deeper comedy. I'm not sure, but this might be the funniest movie I've ever seen. I missed some parts because I was laughing so hard at the previous joke.

Mini-Review: I somehow missed the hype on this one, and the trailer really didn't excite me, but I got a chance to see an advance screening and the other reviewer here who said "It blew me away" hit the nail right on the head.

Mini-Review: Everyone by now is aware of the world in a bubble projects which sprung up in the nineties where they tried to recreate jungles and lakes under a glass roof in the desert right? Well thats the setting for this MTV generation comedy. No film which boasts Pauly Shore and Kylie Minogue as two of the main characters was ever going to be tasteful or deeply philosophical but hey, you don't always have to find meaning in a movie.

Mini-Review: George Clooney plays Danny Ocean who soon after being released from prison, puts together a team of eleven to undertake a robbery of the three biggest casinos in Las Vegas in an attempt to bring in a reward of $150 million. What soon becomes clear is that it's not the money which will give Danny the ultimate satisfaction, but the opportunity to get revenge on the owner of the three casinos he is robbing -Benedict (Andy Garcia) who just happens to be the new beau of Danny's ex, Tess

Mini-Review: I was one of the few lucky fans who attended the Sydney premiere and my impression was "Wow!" The use of a well known Roddenberry plot device to reset the franchise was a brilliant idea and means the franchise can now move forward without the "FANS" shouting "canon!" The special effects are top notch.
