Mini-Review: Not a fan of CF but he did OK here, story was OK, scenery was beautiful which added the magical factor to the film. In the end we learn that people make reality fit with their beliefs even though what's actually true is far more ordinary and dull.
Mini-Review: I liked this one. You knew what was coming but it didn't matter because it was done really well. Good performances by the kids. Quietly effective.
Mini-Review: Classic film, not as hilariously funny as a modern comedy but good nonetheless! Worth watching!
Mini-Review: Just a classic really. I like Travolta and I liked the music, those 70's kids really had it good. The film has aged though and it's hard to compare it to a modern day film.
Mini-Review: Good French film about the life of Edith Piaf, whom I knew nothing about before hand. Amazing songs, incredible story and great acting by Cotillard in particular made this film a good one.
Mini-Review: I thought this was OK. Good parts and bad parts. The dialogue was at time very sharp and clever. But the film did lack that certain something, and it probably could have been made better. Tautou maybe wasn't her usual stunning self either.
Mini-Review: Really disliked the way the story was told, as if to manipulate us. I know that what story telling is - but the listener/watcher is not supposed to notice. In this case it was obvious we were being played with. Underneath it all there is a decent story. But Knightly the speed-mumbler doesn't really help things, and although I do like McAvoy, he on his own, is not enough to save this. Good performance by up and coming Irish actress Saoirse Ronan.
Mini-Review: Nicholson doing a great job as usual. I really enjoyed this film and it's look at old age and making a difference in life. He learns a lot about himself along his way through the film despite his old age and stubborn ways.
Mini-Review: Ok but nothing special. I don't share the view that it's an amazing film, though it is very watchable.
Mini-Review: I haven't read the book so I can't compare them. But this wasn't very interesting despite a good cast. The ideas were good i.e. Rickman playing a manically depressed robot, but it didn't really work or excite me.
