Mini-Review: If I were to go to Antarctica, I'd definitely want Herzog as my companion.
Mini-Review: Laughable, mang.
Mini-Review: I thought I would hate this. But I actually found it quite good, and a rare fine Hollywood adaptation. The right chunks were left out and other bits were added to, creating a more filmic storyline. They got the athmosphere right (albeit a bit sappy at times, but not at all as much as expected) and apart from what many seem to think, they got the boy right. I think it helped knowing the characters beforehand, making me able to put a lot of meaning into small gestures. Almost on par with the book.
Mini-Review: Some great acting (especially considering the dialogue), decent direction and of course awesome fight scenes elevate a rather sloppy, predictable script (was this first draft or what?) into a surprisingly entertaining film. Forget that it tries to be serious, and just watch it as a dumb but rather fun fight film. And why didn't Brian Callen just comment the entire film?
