Mini-Review: Incredibly cool visuals and battle scenes. Great in theaters. This movie, however, suffers from lack of depth, and once the awesome style wears off, it won't have too much re-watchability.
Mini-Review: This is a nice story and a respectful tribute to J.M. Barrie. Depp and Winslet are two fine actors.
Mini-Review: I liked this. It's nothing big, and it doesn't try to be, and Johnny Depp is pretty hilarious.
Mini-Review: This movie is good out of nowhere, although once you hear it's by the writers of Pulp Fiction and American Psycho, it makes more sense. What I got out of this was fantastic pacing and editing, a good combination of humor and melancholy, and a film brave enough to reveal the true rules of attraction: there aren't any, because people simply wants somebody else for selfish reasons.
Mini-Review: I quite liked this. It was just a really fresh movie. The content was original, and the twists were pretty clever. It almost felt like Nolan was borrowing from Hitchcock, with the way he built up suspense in a very subtle way.
Mini-Review: I was dumbstruck with awe after seeing this and knowing almost nothing about it.
A lot of people argue the ending (this movie has one of the most moving ending shots you can see) and that the movie did not have a point. Although I think it does touch on points (true compassion and the relevance of language barriers), a movie does not always have to mean something to be wonderful to watch. The acting, score, and directing are all executed with care and ambition, and I really did like Babel.
Mini-Review: Jesus Christ.
This is the most emotional movie I've ever seen. It's everything a movie should be, and it's so incredibly moving. I gave it such a high score because of its personal relevance, but this is a straight-out masterpiece.
Mini-Review: I love Tenacious D, but this movie really was not as continuously funny as I had expected. Their shorts on HBO were so much better.
