Mini-Review: O'Toole turns in a magnificent performance in a film I wouldn't call Epic but up close and personal. Much like the desert itself, it seems larger than life but can quickly meet you face to face. The duality of this is well captured in Lawrence's character.
Mini-Review: If you imagine all the Italian dialog as "Godzilla, Godzilla, Godzilla!" it's hysterical... until they cut to real WW2 footage of people dying; then it's just in disturbingly bad taste.
Mini-Review: Kinda like King Kong only with a gold hunt and a giant octopus instead. Somewhat goofy but Fay Wray and Ralph Bellamy manage to pull it off.
Mini-Review: Good plot and excellent performances. The script itself is a good start, but seems to becomes too satisfied with its clever premise and fails to build much upon it. Great ideas are hinted at but never executed. Ultimately an unrewarding film.
Mini-Review: Somewhat disjointed but on the whole satisfying thriller which manages both to haunt and bemuse with its dark sense of humor. Karloff is given one final curtain call which garners a much deserved standing ovation.
Mini-Review: Better plot than QT's other films, but then he didn't write the plot. Manages to keep you guessing and has characters with more appeal than just their one liners. But at the same time one liners are what you look for from QT, so overall it's just not enough anything.
Mini-Review: Makes a somewhat bizarre but sensible argument to hold off on marriage. The common sense facts are fine, but the so called scientific ones are head scratching. Still, not the worst short subject to come from the 50's. [MST3k some short's can be a let down but they're pretty damn good with this one.]
Mini-Review: Good for 50's era woman's wrestling footage but not much each. The plot is contrived with little of it going anywhere. [MST3k is one of their better efforts Riff wise but their skits are about as effective as Racket Girl's plot]
Mini-Review: I got the results of the test back; I definitely have brain cancer. [Rifftrax will tear you apart with laughter. Their best yet.]
Mini-Review: Poor Dan Aykroyd. [Rifftrax is probably Mike's best solo work. Not a lot of stand out Riffs, but plenty of good digs all the same. Don't see Crossroads without it!]
