David Simon has the rare talent of showing hope, perseverance, and the essence of all the tired self-help stuff in extremely trying conditions. Be it a drug corner, porn industry, an unnaturally busy homicide division, or a hurricane-hit the shadow of a city; he makes you believe in humans. Just like The Wire, Treme gives you an understanding of Post-Katrina New Orleans, which is highly unlikely to be achieved otherwise; lacing it with excellent music and also music scenery we might say.

It just deserves more viewership. Interconnected stories are woven together masterfully, it's brimming with life. Found it's place as one of the exceptional shows I've watched.

I found Treme hard to get into but slowly it sucked me in through its novelistic structure and i started to care a lot about .. the city of New Orleans. Because character wise there isn't as much to enjoy as in the Wire, like, at all: i found it on watch and re-watch both quite hard to be involved with any of the characters. Still, this is some of Simon's finest and probably his most complex work, an impression of a city in transition with excellent musical performances all around

[abandoned after season 3, episode 7] Gross, weirdly-reverent exoticism.

Not as stunning as the wire, but its combination of humanity and joy, and loss makes this a great little series.

Of course it's not quite The Wire, but it's still easily worth watching. More of that David Simon greatness.

Of those rare titles, where nothing seems to happen, except that a lot of things are happening all the time. It just seems that nothing happens. Lots of jazz music and politics and characters with depth. Watching this will give you so many smart credits that you can watch all six seasons of Glee and still have some to spare.
