Space opera is a form of Sci-Fi that emphasizes fantastical, romanticized Adventure stories set in outer space, either in the far future or in an alternate universe, usually involving extensive space travel, aliens, exotic locations, traditional hero and villain figures (although not exclusively), and large-scale warfare between advanced societies. It usually involves scientifically implausible concepts like fast spacecraft propulsion and other forms of futuristic weapons and advanced technologies like Mecha. As a result of that, space opera typically implements Action's fast-spaced sequences and choreographed fight scenes, and plot lines centered around War. Space opera narratives do not usually emphasise scientific accuracy or realism and take advanced technologies for granted, focusing chiefly on storytelling.

These productions typically showcase hand-to-hand combat, martial arts, and sometimes weapon-based fighting in a stylized and exaggerated manner.

The opposite of Gritty Fantasy: Heroic Fantasy is about the heroes journey against evil. Usually set in fantasy worlds, and following a single protagonist or group in a quest to rid the world of evil - with virtue: vaolour, honour, sacrifice, fellowship, being guiding themes to the narrative.

High Fantasy is a genre of Fantasy characterized by its setting in a fictional world run by its own laws distinct from the real world. These worlds generally have rich and in-depth environments, unique histories, multiple races such as humans, elves, orcs, and dwarves, and mythical creatures like dragons, unicorns, and many original creatures as well. The use of magic in high fantasy worlds is usually seen as a regular occurrence, although some races may not utilize it. Originally deriving from Lord of the Rings, the scope of storytelling is no longer exclusively presented in terms of good vs. evil, but may also encompass 'Gritty Fantasy' or 'Grimdark' fantasy-type settings where the formula is cloaked in grey moral settings.
