100 Rifles (1969)
Reynolds plays Yaqui Joe, an Indian who robs a bank in order to buy guns for his people who are being savagely repressed by the government. Set in turn of the century Mexico, it tells the story of his flight into Mexico and his pursuit by an American lawman. (imdb)

This is basically an American spaghetti western. It's a 20th Century Fox film shot in Spain, with a mixed crew of Americans and Spaniards. Like a lot of spaghetti westerns, it favours action over character and dialogue. If you're okay with a flick that basically starts at full tilt and runs full speed towards the finish line, you can do a lot worse than this. It has appealing leads (although Brown seems a bit less than committed here) and a lot of well-staged action.

A film starring Burt Reynolds & Jim Brown should ideally play off classic Hollywood pictures and blaxploitation westerns. The ingredients are there as an outlaw and an outcast re-invent themselves in the Wild West. Yet it doesn't gel due to poorly written dialogue, a long runtime, and an inability to utilize its stars. Welch is kickass, it has a good music score, and the scenic photography is nice. Overall, it's a marginal recommendation for those who have overlooked this Western entry.
