12 to the Moon

Starts promisingly, and it's not completely brainless, but still can't escape the ludicrous sci-fi tropes of its era.

Comparatively non-terrible first half unfortunately gives way to the second, with one of the dumbest premises I ever did see. If I'd been those aliens, I would have taken the cats too (instead of the humans).

Tagging along for most of this, I tabbed it to the background and just listened once all of North America was flash frozen. At first, the plan to take a space taxi down, fire a penetration rocket through the frozen ~atmosphere~ and drop atomic bomblets into Popocatépetl to prompt a volcanic eruption and thaw an entire continent... made movie sense. Ten seconds later, I shook my head and tabbed back in. "Hang on, WHAT the fuck are they doing?!" I demanded, incredulous, and had to laugh. Worth it.

Terrible.

Goofy fun.
