although i enjoyed jane's rugged performance and looks, he often overshot. the rest of cast & crew didn't do much in any direction. storywise...well, it's typical king. good idea, bad execution, occasional glimpse of light. i guess if someone were to come up with a slogan for netflix, it'd be along the lines of "because what else have you got to do?"

Thomas Jane acts so hard I'm pretty sure he ruptures something, but can't breathe life into a drudgery of a tale. Say what you like about the 80s King adaptations, at least they didn't pretend to be something they weren't. Spooky and moody, but in the end feels like a pale imitation of the movie it thinks it is.

At times, the atmostphere and tone are nailed perfectly and Thomas Jane (incidentally, one of my favorites) is clearly giving it his all, but there's simply not enough meat in this movie. The creepy parts are sparse, the remainder is slow and boring. And never is it actually scary.

This King adaptation comes off as very dry & direct which doesn't really do much to animate the story. It's not a bad horror story or a badly made horror film just feels weirdly flat & emotionless. Achieves a sufficiently creepy atmosphere but the drama never really penetrates the cold artifice of its surface. Same can be said of the acting which feels too theatrical. I must confess that I had a good nap during a large chunk of the middle act but I didn't feel like I really missed anything.

I think the running length was unnecessarily long But other then that good movie Definitely one of the better King film adaptations I've seen

A slow burn psychological horror with way more drama than it has thrills or scares. It's not bad, but it's not good either.

It's just too much in the middle. I feel like this could have been a much better film if they committed to full on horror or full on crime drama, and not whatever is in the middle. That being said, its not bad. Thomas Jane rocks and its a typically pretty good King story.

It's not bad, but it's not particularly great or even memorable. It's pretty good if you were ranking it among the other Stephen King adaptations, but so many of those are bad or have aged badly that it's not particularly high praise. Could have easily been 15-20 minutes shorter and just as effective.

1922 is a supernatural horror thriller based on a novel by Stephen King. Jane's performance really makes this one worth watching.

Thomas Jane gives this his all. It is moody, methodically paced, and, in the end, fairly forgettable. Still, there is something to appreciate in the central performance.

Well done. Very strong style and extremely strong sense of place; I appreciate how well the aesthetic was delivered, though I feel tension could be upped in places. Enjoyable, certainly, because it's so unapologetically grim.

This is a good horror film with a good script. Thomas Jane is great in the lead role. The story is really close to the Stephen King novella. Overall I would recommend this film.

If this were only a little less predictable and more subtle it would have been something truly special. The horror elements are too unambiguous and a bit overwrought. Jane practically carries this entire film on his back. Some might nitpick his acting but it's pretty good and enough for you to forget that it's Jane in this role. The 20's setting and atmosphere of this is also well done for what is a direct to stream film. This deserves at least top 10 recognition for King adaptations.

Compelling, dark, and more than competent. A lot of lesser psychological thrillers are too quickly paced, but I really appreciate how this film isn't afraid to take its time to build drama without feeling overly long. And Thomas Jane's performance is generally incredible, but does occasionally verge on overacting.

Nicely done mood though the story did not work much. It started interesting and cast was okay but some bad CGI spoiled it. Too long. Would work better if less running time.

Chronicle of a hell of a year. Jane's solid, often brilliant performance makes the case for SK adaptation about a greedy rural man who convinces his only son to help him kill his wife so he can mantain the land and prosper. The man inside the man is capable of the most hideous things. He ends up with no wife or kid or land. And terrorized by rats and ghost of his wife. It works better as a psychopath drama than psychological horror.

A simple but twisted story that offers a lot of suspense and drama. Mom is sick of life on the farm and wants out, and Dad is determined to preserve his farm heritage by any means necessary. Great cast and good performances with lots of tension and irony. Convincing and entertaining despite being written by Stephen King. I can only assume that Zak Kilditch saved it with copious edits.

The movie is well made and all, but overall the film was a bit boring... way more drama than horror/thriller. I guess that is to be expected with most Stephen King stuff though.

This was okay but this type of story works better as a short. The acting was good but the direction had a slow, plodding feel to it like a TV movie.

Very slow movie in which not a lot happens. The rats are the true enemy.. which is kind of lame. The acting is good and I guess the moral of the story is that you can never walk away from your evil deeds + there is always a different path to choose. Also there is a Bonnie & Clyde moment.
