Focusing on a moment not often seen in movies, the months directly after WWI in Eastern Europe the premise is interesting, but the execution doesn't live up to that. At times the movie feels too written. Especially the marriage aspect adds an unnecessary dramatic element. But the whole way how the intentions of the visitors and history of the town are kept vague feel written. On the directing front the best moment are when the movies builds the tension and paranoia felt by the townspeople.
